AgCarolina Financial is a part of the National Farm Credit System. The Farm Credit System was created by the U.S. Congress in 1916 to provide American agriculture with reliable credit. After the payoff of the government's investment capital the system became a financial cooperative. Thus, we are member-owned and though regulated by a federal agency, the Farm Credit Association, we are not funded by the government.
Farm Credit banks, as a substitute, sell bonds and notes to capital markets and then guide these monies back into its lending institutions. This allows us to provide low interest rates and give back to our customers.
The lending institutions are divided into four regional bank territories. These banks provide funding and support for the institutions in their territory. AgCarolina Financial is serviced by AgFirst Farm Credit Bank of Columbia, South Carolina.
Since Farm Credit's inception it has been the principal provider of agricultural credit in the United States.
Farm Credit serves over 500,000 farmers, rural homeowners, agricultural cooperatives, and agribusinesses across the nation. |
