Produce Project

AgCarolina Cares

The AgCarolina Farm Credit Produce Project supports local farmers by purchasing produce that is packed and distributed by team members within the communities we serve. Why? Because at AgCarolina Farm Credit… we serve. We are committed to serving our customers, communities and the agricultural industry.

What started two years ago, in response to the pandemic, AgCarolina Farm Credit continues the annual Project Project in 2022 to positively impact the communities we serve.

  • 81 farmers grew the local produce for the 2020 & 2021 project
  • 438 volunteer hours have been utilized by over 90 AgCarolina Farm Credit employees through the past two years
  • 6,000 individuals have been fed with fresh, local and healthy produce through the past two years

How it Started

Our farmers are committed to serving consumers through all circumstances and in 2020, due to the pandemic, they needed additional markets to move their products due to supply chain disruptions. Internally, our team members saw the need within our communities for families to receive healthy food during the uncertainty of the pandemic. With a heart of service, our team created the Produce Project to support and satisfy both the need from farmers and consumers.

Local Produce

Each bag is filled with traditional southern local produce from farmers within eastern North Carolina. Produce Bags may include items such as, but not limited to corn, cucumbers, tomatoes, bell peppers, potatoes, squash, zucchini, blueberries and blackberries. The produce bags are packed with enough produce to feed a family of four. This project assists our customers and local farmers by providing an additional distribution avenue for their operation.

Distributing Produce Bags

If you represent a church, civic group, 4-H chapter, FFA chapter, or another community organization and would like to distribute the produce bags within eastern North Carolina, contact Janna Bass at marketing@agcarolina.com or call 910-323-9188 ext. 2414.

AgCarolina Farm Credit works with community partners to distribute the produce bags to families in need. The Association does not take individual names for donations but we encourage you to contact your local food bank to inquire if they are a distribution partner for the Produce Project and about receiving a produce bag.
