Roots Run Deep-Carissa Miller

At AgCarolina Farm Credit, our roots run deep, not just in agriculture, but in the people who live and breathe it every day. When you walk into AgCarolina’s Ahoskie office, you’ll likely be greeted by Carissa Miller, Servicing Specialist, whose connection to agriculture runs far beyond her desk. Married to a poultry farmer and deeply rooted in rural life, Carissa brings firsthand understanding of the hard work and dedication that farming requires.

Carissa joined AgCarolina in February 2024, bringing her experience in Finance into the world of agricultural lending. Her career change brought the opportunity to deepen her connection to the agriculture community. 

Carissa and her husband, Nelson, married in June 2023 and share a lively family with six children and three grandchildren. Together, they operate chicken houses, a true labor of love that keeps their days full of hard work, family stories, and visits from excited grandkids.

She often pitches in after a full day at AgCarolina, helping her husband and kids with farm chores. “There have been days where I’ve worked all day at AgCarolina and then gone to help my husband at the chicken houses. It’s hard work, but we’re building a life for our family that will hopefully continue even after we’re gone.”

Carissa’s passion for agriculture shines through her favorite quote by Steve Jobs, “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.”

Carissa says, “I truly feel that AgCarolina plays an important role in agriculture and provides valuable resources to our farming communities and I’m proud to be a part of it.”
