Roots Run Deep- Kaleb Sargent

For those involved in agriculture, the passion for the industry runs deep. That’s certainly true for Kaleb Sargent. Born in Indiana, at a young age, Kaleb’s family moved to North Carolina and has called Sampson County home for over 20 years. Kaleb’s family planted roots and bought a swine farm, a farm that Kaleb plays an active role in managing today.
Kaleb attended NC State University, where he met his wife Kat. As fellow animal science majors, Kaleb and Kat share a love for animals and rural communities. After graduating NC State University, they established a 70 head cow-calf operation on his family farm.
In 2018, Kaleb began his career with AgCarolina as a loan officer and now serves as an appraiser. He credits his upbringing on the farm for shaping his approach to his role today. “Understanding how a swine operation works has led me to have a better understanding of the industry,” Kaleb says. “I’ve been able to apply that to my appraiser role at AgCarolina.”
Appreciating the AgCarolina employee culture, Kaleb continues, “AgCarolina is a great place to work with a good work-life balance,” Kaleb says. “It’s rewarding to support people who are doing what I love.”
Outside of work, you can find Kaleb right where he feels most at home, on the farm alongside his wife, Kat, and their daughter, Josie.
For Kaleb, the farm is a legacy. It’s where roots were planted, and where the next generation is already beginning to bloom.
