Roots Run Deep- Melissa Boney

While some roots grow deep where they are planted, others find strength in new ground- as Melissa Boney did in rural Sampson County. Melissa’s family moved from New Jersey to North Carolina when she was seven years old. It didn’t take long for her roots to begin to grow, especially after meeting her husband, Clint, in high school.
Fast forward, Clint, a local farmer, was stepping into his role of helping his family farm while Melissa was working in banking. In 1999 they got married, and she began to learn more about agriculture as she had taken on the new title of “farmers wife”.

“He’s the working hands of the farm and I wanted to have the other side of knowledge to help support him,” stated Melissa.
So, with a head for numbers and a heart that followed love to the farm, Melissa had her eyes on Farm Credit. After learning of a local Farm Credit job opening, she applied and began her Farm Credit career. Twenty-three years later, she’s grown a career where she gets to help serve those in the agricultural industry that surrounds her home.
“Working at AgCarolina allows me to gain knowledge of many types of farming, different of what our family farms, said Melissa. “I have enjoyed creating relationships within the farming community and with my coworkers”, she continues.
Over her career, Melissa has seen many changes, although one thing remains constant, and that is Farm Credit’s mission and passion for serving farmers and local communities.

Today, Melissa is excited to have a new title as “Wolfpack Mom”, as her and Clint watch their son, Hayden, pursue a degree in agriculture at NC State University, continuing the family’s passion of serving the agriculture industry.
